Seeing future trends on the runways and then in store for purchase is all part of the fun in the fashion industry! Planning outfits and what to buy makes fashion more exciting and different with each season. You may be wondering why I’m posting about Fall ’16 trends, but it’s because I’m already thinking about what will fill my closet this September. While the Fall 2016 shows have taken place already, it gives us time to shop, plan, and lust over these newly renovated styles about to blow up.
One of my favorite trends is monochromatic black paired with different textures, hem lengths, shapes, and fabrics to provide more contrast. It is no surprise that capes, patchwork fur coats, puffer jackets, and navy blazers will be popular during the colder months. Velvet was also big on the runway, used for dresses, elegant coats, even tops, skirts, and pants. Feminine use of menswear was incorporated with use of checker print, stripes, and plaid. Street style continued to make an impact with 90’s themed track suits, hoodies, and sporty stripes. Designers drew inspiration from the Victorian Era with bold use of fabric, embroidery, and contrasting layers. Patent also took over the runway – but don’t just think handbags, this trend was used for full ensembles! My *favorite* trend was all of the delicate, embroidered details, made by both man and machine for a different take on details.
Which of your favorite trends are you excited for this fall?!
