I love using the new Dove DermaSeries in my skincare routine to stay moisturized. The products textures are so silky and gentle! Perfect for day time and night time use. The body lotion is amazing for daily use! It’s clean, and doesn’t feel too thick. One thing I hate about using lotion in the morning is that sticky feeling I get throughout the day. This lotion doesn’t give me that feeling.

I also love the repairing balm. It’s similar to an ointment base but feels like lotion. This I love to use on my super dry areas. Such as elbows, knees, feet, and stretch marks. Especially at night. It can also be combined with the body lotion. Providing skin with extra moisture.

Best Lotion For Winter Dry Itchy Skin

The face wash wasn’t particularly right for my combination skin. It gave my face a very nourished feeling. But I wouldn’t use it before wearing makeup. If I had dry facial skin, it may be perfect. Because my combination skin can easily turn oily throughout the day. I tend to avoid using any lotions, creams, or hydrating textures before makeup. However, if I’m staying in for the day. Without makeup. Than I will use moisturizing products.

At Ulta, I came across this product when I was in search of a full coverage foundation that wouldn’t slide around a few hours into the day. I normally favor a cream base, but was willing to give the liquid a try.

I hated it at first because I was applying it with my hands, instead of a makeup brush. Once I tried the brush, and stopped using primer, I was in for a treat. This foundation in particular doesn’t require a primer, and actually does better without one, depending on skin type. I have fairly combination/oily skin so the liquid formula helps any AM dryness but doesn’t add to the PM oiliness. I tap the foundation onto my clean skin and use a foundation brush to apply and blend. This foundation can build, adding more coverage, depending on how much is needed.

After an even application, I use a loose powder with a powder puff. The puff works better than a brush because it forces the powder to sink into pores, instead of sitting on top of the skin. Using a powder puff also creates more of a matte finish. This was a total game changer for me, because I normally use a brush to add powder. Curving the puff onto my skin into of patting directly on top it also creates a smoother finish. This stops the makeup from rubbing away with the application as well. Once I’ve added a contour or blush, and eye makeup, I then set the foundation with my Urban Decay setting spray.

Why Is Cleaning Makeup Brushes Important?

Keeping our makeup brushes clean provides a better quality application, creating a smoother, more even look. Consequently, when my makeup isn’t applying evenly, especially with my eyeliner brush, I know it’s time to clean the brush! Additionally, using clean brushes will also decrease the risk of infection, and decrease spreading bacteria. As a result, this helps with keeping skin clear and fresh. Furthermore, it should reduce black heads and acne. Using dirty makeup brushes will spread bacteria and grime, increasing break outs, and nobody wants that. Just like it’s important to wash our face at the end of the day, it’s equally important to use hygienic tools. Therefore, I have been attempting to clean my brushes more often, about once a month, at night so that they have time to dry properly.

How To Take Care of Makeup Brushes

1. Rinse with warm water in the sink, let them soak a bit
2. Add a drop of face wash (or makeup brush cleanser) on the brushes
3. Wash them in an upward motion, as to not bend the bristles backwards
4. Rinse thoroughly in warm water to remove all soap and makeup
5. Place brushes in correct form and let dry on a clean towel
